WEEK8: BALOON FINAL WORK

In this term, we try to create our hot air baloon at week3, try to compose it at week5. At last, our teacher want us to create and play it by our imagine. So I design a feture technology style and try my best to make it reality,

Reference

I start to find some reference and finally use “feture technology” and “Industry” for the theme in my scene.

In the process of learning, I try to use technology which called “matte painting”

It is a kind of mask painting technology, which can also be understood as “mask painting” or “digital background”. To put it bluntly, it is to use 2d or 2d combined with 3d to draw the background space that can’t be built in the real scene. Digital scene drawing can be used to create the whole scene, or to extend the existing scene. In today’s visual effect concept, Matte Painting is not just painting, but a technique that tries every means to realize and create a scene.

It is the first time I try to use matte painting. First I use photoshop to create the main scene and output image in different layers.

Some architecture I use images form pinterest and comine them into new buildings.

Finally, put them in nuke for color correct compose and add some fog to make the scene more ambience

WEEK8: 3D TRACKING

In this course, we study how to use “Planar Track” node to track a surface with perspective change in a video, and use a image to instead it.

WEEK7: IPHONE 2D TRACKING

In this course, we study how to use “Traker” node to make lens stable and track screen on iphone.

In this project, we need to use image instead green screen and create a video that someone unlock the phone and view some message on it.

Process

First use “tracker” node tracking for ages on phone and generate “Transform_Stablize” and “Transform_MatchMove” to make video moving stable.

Second, Use “Mirror”, “Crop” and “Corner Pin” to match Image on the phone screen.

Third, put message image of the phone on the bottom, use “Dissolove” image control screen saver and screen message.

Finally, give fingers a mask to put it on the screen. About this part, I study use keylight to create a finger mask instead roto.

Concepts are the result of abstraction

Abstract is to remove the appearance or be understood as a process of continuously summarizing the essence. The essence of all things can be infinite. In the process of continuous summarization, this essence will become increasingly unrealistic, and this process is an abstract process.

In the CG world, 3D rendering based on physical rules often means precise, authentic, volume and order. However, in the project of artist PARTICLE GAO, use traditional Chinese landscape paintings for the theme of creation. Abandon accurate description of light and shadow and the perspective law of space, focusing on expressing the artistic conception of the picture, and trying to obtain disorderly, chaotic but beautiful results from a physical law -like rendering algorithm.

Style attributes: low guarantee, noise, plane and uncertainty.

WEEK3/4_BALOON

Steampunk is a style I’ve always loved.

After week2 week3, Design from the silhouette and gradually refine the model details. After splitting the UV, put it in Sbustance painter to draw details, and finally render it in Arnold.

REFERENCE AND DESIGN

In this project, I want to create a military style hot air balloon. Find some reference in pinterest. Reference include shape texture and atmosphere in the scene. Finally put reference in pureref.

Continue to study model making in Maya. Study how to optimize lines in model.

After finish model making and UV, I Export model to SubstancePianter for texture painting. Combine texture form reference and some thinking of myself.

SUBSTANCE PAINTER PAINTING

Finally, put texture into Maya and render it by Arnold.

Summary

This is the result of my four-week study of MAYA, and there are still many things I want to improve, such as the problems caused by edges in modeling are often make mistake, and details and texture need to be consider more when paint in substance painter . I hope I can be promoted in my later study.
